How open a WDB and WPS files on my windows 11 pc

I have a few WBD and WPS files that I used to be able to open but, I have done something??? and now I can't open them PLEASE PLEASE HELP. I am not very computer wise so please go slowly Thank You

What were you using to open those type of files. Were you previously using the PC you have now and it just stopped working or did you change the PC and you are trying to open those files?

Hello Tina,

.wps and .wdb are older Microsoft Works file formats. It sounds like these files were created long ago on an older PC using Microsoft Works, and you are now trying to open them on a newer Windows 11 PC where Microsoft Works is no longer available.

First, make sure the file types:

Open File Explorer.
Select View > Show > File name extensions.
Check whether the files end in.wps and.wdb.

If the older PC with Microsoft Works is still available, make backup copies and convert them there:

.wps > save as.docx, then open in Word.
.wdb > export as.csv, then open in Excel.

If the older PC or Microsoft Works is no longer available, the third-party suggestion from the other answer may be worth trying.

You can open.WDB and .WPS files on Windows 11 by using LibreOffice, which is free and supports both the Microsoft Works database and Works word processor formats. Just install LibreOffice, then right-click your file. WDB or .wps file → Open with → LibreOffice Base for WDB or LibreOffice Writer for WPS, and you can save them as .xlsx or .docx for use in Excel/Word.
