The "Microsoft undefined Online (natural) - undefined" does not interfere with the local voices such as David, Mark, and Zira. All the Naturals reappear but go back to "Microsoft undefined Online (natural) - undefined" after a several minutes. I have tried the recommended ways, but it will not disappear can someone explain?
Managing media playback issues and settings in Microsoft Edge on Windows 11
I had the exact same issue where Edge's JavaScript speechSynthesis kept displaying the natural voices as "undefined". It would load each voice as "Microsoft undefined Online (Natural) - undefined" and then not work. The problem started for me on the same day as the original post. It seems that it was an Edge update that affected multiple users. Microsoft Edge developers may have finally fixed the issue. I was still having the problem today until I went to edge://settings/help and downloaded a new update. Version 150.0.4078.99. After restarting Edge then the natural voices started loading correctly and playing correctly.
I did not need to create a new user profile to fix the issue. I only needed to update Edge today. However, other updates done previously in the past week did not fix the issue.
Hi ali lee,
Based on the information you've provided, it appears that only the Natural voices are affected, while the locally installed voices continue to function normally. This may help narrow down the cause of the issue.
To help narrow this down further, could you let me know your Windows version and build? You can check this by pressing Windows + R, typing winver and selecting OK. Also, please confirm whether you're seeing the "Microsoft undefined Online (natural) - undefined" entries in Narrator, Edge Read Aloud or another speech-related feature.
Could you also let me know what troubleshooting steps you've already tried? This will help avoid repeating the same suggestions and allow me to focus on other possible causes of the issue.
In the meantime, I suggest checking for any pending Windows updates under Settings > Windows Update. Install all available updates, including optional updates if they are offered and then restart your PC. Speech components and voice packages can receive updates through Windows Update and a restart may help refresh those components.
You can also try removing and reinstalling the affected Natural voices. Open Settings > Accessibility > Narrator, locate the installed Natural voices, remove them, restart the computer and then download the voices again. If one of the voice packages did not install correctly or has become corrupted, reinstalling it may refresh the associated voice data.
Another useful test is to create a temporary local user account and check whether the same issue occurs there. If the voices display normally in the new account, the issue may be related to your current Windows profile. Microsoft provides instructions here: Manage User Accounts in Windows. If the same behavior occurs in the new account as well, that suggests the issue is affecting Windows at the system level rather than just your user profile.
If the voices continue to function correctly but only appear as "undefined," there is a possibility that this is a display or metadata issue within Windows or Edge. In that case, I recommend submitting feedback through the Feedback Hub app (Windows key + F) so Microsoft can review the behavior and investigate further.
Please let me know your winver results and whether the issue occurs in Narrator, Edge Read Aloud or another speech feature, and I'll be happy to look into this further.
