Capturing audio, video, and screen content from Teams meetings for later review or sharing
Hi,
Thank you for your question.
If you are assigned as a co-organizer for the Teams meeting, you should generally be able to access and manage the meeting recording without needing the main organizer to manually grant you permission afterward.
For meetings and events, recordings are saved to the organizer’s OneDrive, even if the organizer did not attend. Co-organizers have the same editing permissions as organizers for recording files. For delegate-created meetings, the recording is also saved to the organizer’s OneDrive Recordings folder, and delegates who are added as co-organizers have the same editing permissions as organizers for those recording files.
In your scenario, since the meeting is scheduled from your boss’s calendar, your boss remains the meeting organizer, and the recording would normally be stored in your boss’s OneDrive Recordings folder. However, if you are added as a co-organizer, you should have edit/manage permissions for the recording, including the ability to share it.

Here are a few important notes:
- By default, for non-channel meetings, meeting invitees from the same organization usually receive access to the recording, while external participants may need to be added separately. For reference: Start, stop, and find meeting recordings in Microsoft Teams
- For scheduled meetings, the organizer has full permissions, while co-organizers and the organizer have edit permissions and can share the recording.
- Download availability may still depend on your organization’s Teams, OneDrive, or SharePoint policies.
- If the meeting option Who has access to the recording and transcript is used, access can be set to Everyone, Organizers and co-organizers, or Specific people. This option is available with a Teams Premium or Copilot license.
For reference: Customize who can access a recording or transcript in Microsoft Teams
I hope this helps clarify the behavior. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'll be happy to assist further.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
