A family of Microsoft products that enable users to capture, organize, and reuse notes electronically.
Hi, Sagar Divyansh
These errors usually mean OneNote cannot authenticate the account that owns the notebooks, so the app cannot connect to the cloud copy. It may be caused by expired sign-in credentials, the wrong Microsoft account, or a damaged connection between OneNote and the notebooks.
Here are some suggestions you can try:
Open OneNote for the web and sign in with the exact account used to create or access the notebooks. If the notebooks open and contain the latest notes, the cloud copies are safe and the issue is likely limited to the desktop app.
Install all available Office updates, then restart the computer.
Before resetting anything, copy any pages marked “Incomplete sync” into a new notebook or export a backup. Unsynced changes can be lost if you close the notebook, sign out, reset, or reinstall OneNote.
Once the backup is confirmed, close the affected notebooks and reopen them from OneNote for the web using Open in Desktop App. This rebuilds their connection.
If the notebooks also fail online, check their OneDrive/SharePoint permissions or contact the organization’s Microsoft 365 administrator if you are using a school/work account
