why doesn't my Microsoft edge search work?

The error message DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN for "dsc.searcharchiver.com" indicates that the browser search settings have been hijacked. A rogue extension or a malicious registry policy has redirected the search queries through that specific domain. Because that domain is now inactive or blocked, searches fail to load entirely.

To resolve this issue, please follow these two steps:

1 = These hijackers usually install themselves disguised as legitimate extensions, sometimes using generic names like "Apps", "Volume Booster", or claiming to be "managed by your organization" to prevent removal.

• In Edge, type edge://extensions/ in the address bar and press Enter;
• Examine the list and look for any extension that is not recognized or looks suspicious;
• Click Remove on all of them.

2 = After removing the malicious extension, the preferred search engine needs to be reset:

• Open Edge Settings (or type edge://settings/ in the address bar);
• In the left sidebar, click Privacy, search, and services;
• Then, select "Search and connected experiences > Address bar and search";
• Under "Search engine used in the address bar", select "Search engines";
• Click on the three dots on Google or Bing and select "Make default";
• Also, remove any suspicious or unknown items from the list by clicking the three dots and selecting "Remove";
• Then, restart the browser
