Since the latest update Windows doesn't recognize image files when clicking to open

How do I get Windows to recognize images when clicking to open? Since the latest update, it can't do this anymore.

Hi, good day!

A few questions first to narrow it down

What happens when you click an image file? Nothing happens?
Do you get an error message? If so, what does it say?
Does Windows ask you to choose an app?
What image format is affected? .jpg, .png, .jpeg, or all image files?

In the meantime, please try this first.

Right-click a image file.

Select Open with > Choose another app.

Select Photos (or another image viewer).

Check Always use this app to open .jpg files, then click OK.

Thanks! Before I got this, I opted for the "remote assist" from Microsoft. What happened was the Microsoft Photos app was damaged and even after trying "repair," and then "reset," it still wasn't working, so we had to remove the app, restart the computer, then add the app from the Mircosoft store.

It sounds like the Microsoft Photos app had become corrupted, and since the Repair and Reset options didn't resolve it, reinstalling the app from the Microsoft Store was the right solution.
