Forced app redirect & invalid meeting ID error made me miss critical internship interview & $1000 scholarship

I am writing to report a highly problematic Teams meeting access bug that directly led to me missing a vital job interview and valuable benefits.

When I clicked the official Teams interview invitation link on my mobile phone, instead of directly loading the meeting room, the link compulsively redirected me to the mobile Teams app. I had to manually search and join via meeting ID inside the app. After accurately entering the copied meeting ID and password, the system kept prompting "call could not be completed".

I switched to my desktop computer to retry, carefully rechecked and retyped the ID and password multiple times without any typos, yet the system still showed the meeting ID was invalid.

I later noticed the auto-generated meeting ID from the invitation contained built-in blank spaces. Even when I manually deleted extra spaces while inputting, I still failed to join the meeting via ID. It is unreasonable that Teams adds automatic spaces to official meeting numbers, which greatly increases entry failure risks for external participants.

The only working solution was opening the raw link through browser web version directly. In contrast, mobile Teams required complicated email login and repeated identity verification steps, wasting massive time. By the time I finally accessed the meeting, I was already 20 minutes late, and the HR had left.

I spent plenty of time preparing thoroughly for this J-1 resort internship interview, which also included a exclusive $1000 scholarship. I completely lost this precious opportunity solely due to Teams rigid redirect rules and unstable ID joining function.

I have used Zoom for dozens of previous interviews, it never has forced client jump issues, and external guests can join meetings steadily via links or meeting IDs smoothly.

Teams current access logic is extremely unfriendly to external interview candidates outside the enterprise organization. I strongly urge the product team to optimize these flaws:

1. Cancel forced automatic jump to mobile/desktop app, highlight web join option on pop-up window;
2. Remove auto extra spaces in generated meeting IDs;
3. Fix meeting ID verification failure issue for external guests.

Many job seekers may encounter the same issue and lose important opportunities. Please optimize these defects urgently.
