On the Windows 10 desktop, when you right-click and select "New," there used to be shortcut keys, such as "F" for "New Folder" and "M" for several Office items. Now they are gone. How can I get them back, or what are the actual keys?

    Hi,

Have you checked if the option underline access key shortcut is enabled? Go to Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard, then make sure the option Change how keyboard shortcuts behave is turned on.

    Hi Like,

Since New Folder and Shortcut are still present, the issue appears to be limited to the Office document entries in the New menu. The accelerator keys (such as the letters previously used for Word, Excel, or PowerPoint documents) are only available when those menu entries are registered by Microsoft Office.

A quick workaround is to refresh the Office registrations:

    1. Open Control Panel > Programs and Features.
    2. Select Microsoft 365 / Office.
    3. Choose Change > Quick Repair.
    4. Restart the PC and check the New menu again.

If the Word, Excel, and PowerPoint items have returned but the accelerator letters are still not displayed, it may simply be that Windows is no longer showing those menu accelerators visually, even though the menu items remain available.

I hope this helps clarify why the Office shortcut keys are missing. Let me know if you need further assistance, feel free to ask me by clicking "Add Comment" or "Add Answer" if you cannot add comment so your response will be visible. Thanks for your effort.
