when trying to compare Word documents the file cannot be selected

When trying to use the compare function the Word file documents I am trying to compare are not highlighted so I cannot select them.

Is this Word for Mac? The file type may be incorrectly set in the dialog box where you browse for files to compare. At the bottom of the dialog box, click Show Options.

In the dialog box, click the Enable drop down and change the file type to Word document.
