On file explorer I've got a word file that I need and had been functional up until a couple of months ago. When i attempt to open the file it takes me to my browser and states "this sight can't be reached" and provides an outlook link. The file has an empty cloud next to it. Because of this i have made sure that my one drive is working, up to date and backed up. I have made sure that my internet is working, outlook is working and the write profile/one drive accounts are activated. How might I recover this file and open it. Thx Edward

Log into your OneDrive account in a web browser, is that file available to download to your PC from there, also check the online Recycle Bin to see if the file can be recovered from there..
If not, right click that file on your PC and select Properties, please provide a screenshot of the resulting properties dialog box.
The file doesn't appear in the recycling bin. I think its linked to outlook so it doesn't let me open properties and going to file location results in an online error.

Your screenshot indicates that is just a shortcut, not the actual file, the shortcut does seem to indicate that file may be an attachment on an Email, open Outlook and check if you still have the Email that Word file was sent to you on and if it is possible to download the attachment to your PC again.
I couldn't find the email for that file but I remembered editing the file and managed to find a copy on one of my other accounts. Thanks so much for the help and support.
