If you cannot add or edit text in a new Word document, the issue may be due to licensing or activation.
When you sign in with your Microsoft account on the Services & Subscriptions page here, do you see your Office license 'Office Home 2024' listed?

If you see your license active, you can use the Office License Removal tool here to remove all the previous traces of the Office license installed on your Mac and then reactivate them.
