"Open teams to continue getting notifications" for Samsung S24

I've recently started getting the "Open teams to continue getting notifications" and tried reinstalling the app + logging out then in. It gives me that notification at random times in both individual chats and team groups. I'll be able to see the message from lock screen some times and other times it tells me to open the app. No settings have been changed.

I see previous posts and other forums posts about it, but they're all for iOS.

Check your VPN settings. Do you have an active VPN session, perhaps to another country?

My phone was connected to a server in another country and organisational policies limited the functionality of all Office apps including Outlook and Teams. As soon as I terminated the connection full Teams functionality returned.

I did notice this started happening after my trip to Japan in April. But international roaming and vpn is currently off. The VPN was set to Japan, but it's been turned off. I've set the VPN back to US so we'll see if that fixes anything.

I have been getting the same: Android Pixel 8 Pro, Teams version1416/1.0.0.2026123608 (latest as of 7/14/26)

No effect: Stopped app, cleared cache

No effect: Log out, log in

No effect: Uninstalled app, logged out of anything MS, reinstalled app

No effect: Battery background usage allowed

No effect: Battery saver on/off

No effect: All notification access on and notifications on

No effect: Allow all premissions

This is a very frustrating issue, and does not make sense.

Unrestricted battery usage for Teams app.

Not added to "Never sleeping apps", but I open Teams at least once a day so it shouldn't be going to sleep. Not seeing the "Set as priority" setting.

No other notification issues with other apps, only Teams.

Teams version 1416/1.0.0.2026123608.

Thank you for sharing the troubleshooting steps you have already completed.

Based on my research, you may want to try the steps below and see whether they help:

Open Settings > search for Android System WebView.

Select App details in Store > Remove updates.

Restart your device.

After the device restarts, go back to Settings > Android System WebView.

Open App details in Store and update the app to the latest version.

If Android System WebView does not appear in the app list, navigate to Settings >  Google > All services >  System Services >  Android System WebView.

Restart the device once more.

After the restart, launch Outlook and attempt to sign in again.

Note: The detailed steps may vary depending on the device, but the overall process remains the same.

If the steps above do not help, I would highly recommend reaching out to both the Outlook for Android support team and Samsung support. They may be able to provide additional insight and investigate the behavior more thoroughly than the community forum can.
