Microsoft Weather "energy points" still active - why?

I understand that the E-Tree program was discontinued, and the Reforestation Project confirmed to me that MSFT has not participated for some time. But, since the discontinued date, I can still collect the points on the MSFT Weather pages, both on mobile and on laptop, and do get a message that a tree will be planted when my "tree is grown".

So, is there some other program for tree planting going on, is there some other application or reason for collecting points, or is it just that the pages have never been updated to remove the program and it is now only a time waster?

Microsoft’s updated E-tree FAQ confirms that the program was retired starting July 4, 2025 because of limited user engagement.

It also states that only E-trees completed before the program ended would be planted. Any unfinished progress after the retirement date would be lost.

Microsoft does not mention a replacement tree-planting program in that article. Therefore, the energy points and planting message still appearing in MSN Weather are most likely an outdated feature that has not been fully removed. However, only Microsoft can confirm why it remains visible.

The official way to raise this directly with the Bing/MSN team is to select Feedback at the bottom of the MSN Weather or Bing page. Microsoft specifically directs users to that option for factual errors and other issues.
