Taskbar Pinned Icons Disappeared

I have been a subscriber to Office 365 for many years now. My current subscription renews in early 2027. The problem I have encountered in the past couple of days is that the several quick access icons pinned to my taskbar have suddenly disappeared. This occurred when I shut down my computer and restarted it. Where have they gone? I do not want to re-pin the icons each time I shut down and then restart the computer. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall Office 365?

I understand how frustrating it can be when your pinned taskbar icons suddenly disappear after restarting your PC.

Could you also confirm:

Are all pinned taskbar icons disappearing, or only the Microsoft 365 apps?
Which version of Windows are you using (Windows 10 or Windows 11)?

In the meantime, if you're using Windows 10 or Windows 11 Home, please try the following:

1, Check whether the affected apps are still installed

Press the Windows key and search for one of the missing apps (for example, Word or Excel).
If the app opens normally, then the issue is likely limited to the taskbar shortcuts.

2, Restart Windows Explorer

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
Locate "Windows Explorer" on the "Processes" tab.
Right-click it and select "Restart".

3, Check whether the issue occurs after every restart

If you re-pin an icon and it remains after another restart, the problem may have been a one-time taskbar configuration issue.
If the icons disappear again after each restart, additional troubleshooting will be needed.

This disappearing act seems to occur on restarting my computer after an update. The programs/tasks are installed and have not been changed/modified/deleted whatsoever. Therefore, I opened Task Manager, as you suggested in item #2. Then I restarted Task Manager, and the tasks pinned to the bar appeared. It is discouraging that this what must be done after any update restart, but now I know that a solution is at hand! Thanks for your input. It is must appreciated!
