A desktop publishing application from Microsoft that focuses on page layout and graphic design.
Good day YB,
Thank you for sharing your concern.
Just to gently clarify before we go any further, this is a user‑to‑user support forum. I don’t have the ability to access or investigate individual accounts because this is a user-to-user support forum. Moderators and contributors, including external Microsoft employees, do not have access to internal systems or the ability to directly take action on Microsoft product features. However, I truly hope I can help review your situation, offer some guidance, and support you in finding the right next steps as best as possible.
When a Microsoft 365 subscription expires or Office is no longer activated, Office applications may enter a reduced functionality mode where you may only be able to view or print files instead of editing or saving them.
Please try the following steps:
Step 1: Check the Office Clipboard
If Publisher or another Office application that was being used when the content was copied is still open, please try the following:
Keep Publisher or the Office application open.
Select the Home tab.
In the Clipboard group, click the small launcher icon in the lower right corner.
Review the Office Clipboard pane and check whether your copied content appears.
If you find the content, paste it into a location that allows editing, such as Notepad, Word for the web, or another text editor.
Save the content as soon as possible.
Notes:
- Office Clipboard can store up to 24 copied items. If additional items were copied afterward, older items may have been removed.
- If the Office application was closed, the device was restarted, or the clipboard was cleared, the content may no longer be available.
Step 2: Check Windows Clipboard history
If Clipboard History is enabled on your device, you may still be able to access previously copied content.
Press Windows key + V.
Review the Clipboard history panel.
If the content appears, select it to paste into another application and save it immediately.
Note: Clipboard history must have been enabled before the content was copied. If it was not enabled, previously copied items cannot be recovered through this feature.
If the content no longer appears in the Office Clipboard or Windows Clipboard history, and it wasn't saved elsewhere, there is unfortunately no supported method to recover clipboard data that has already been cleared, overwritten, or lost after the session ended.
Step 3: Renew or reactivate subscription to restore full Office functionality
Scenario 1: For the Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription
Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services > Select Subscriptions tab.
Renew the subscription or reactivate it if the subscription expired.
Close all Office apps.
Note: When you close the application, any items stored in the Office Clipboard will be permanently removed and cannot be recovered.
Open Publisher again and sign in if prompted.
Verify whether full editing functionality has been restored.
- Scenario 2: For the Education subscription
Only your organization's IT administrator can verify and manage the subscription. Please contact your IT admin as soon as possible and ask them to confirm that the subscription is active and that the correct license has been assigned to your school account.
Note: In case you do not know who is your IT admin, kindly refer to this article: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support
After the license is restored, sign out of Office and sign back in.
Restart Publisher and verify whether full functionality has returned.
I hope this information is helpful. If you have any questions or need further support, please don’t hesitate to reach out at any time.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
