Server stuck in start modus since Tuesday

Some guy entertained me via private message, probably to remove the discussion from this forum, but did nothing at all. Is it normal that a server is down for 4 days because Microsoft refuses to help???????Are there any other ways to get some competent people looking at this ticket?

I assume that the case you are talking about is https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5941229/azure-database-for-postgresql-stuck-in-starting-st? Since that is a Postgres server, I have changed the tag from SQL Server on Virtual Machines to Azure Database for PostgresSQL. Or are you also having the same problem with an VM running SQL Server?

As Alex mentioned there is an Escalate feature in the Q&A that we moderators can use, and I have escalated your case. To be honest, I am not sure what effect that actually has.

I agree that two days without any update in a case where a server is stuck is not satisfactory, even if this a severity-C case.

Assuming that this post is related to the other post, I would encourage you to accept Alex's or my posts as the Answer to close this thread, so that there are not two PCS cases about the same issue.

hi Piet Van de Steen & thx for sharing urs issue here at Q&A portal,

4 days is definitely not expected for a VM that is stuck in Starting. If the VM still won't start after several days and you've already opened a support case, this is no longer something that can be resolved from the Q&A forum. The forum also can't escalate or investigate support tickets. I'd reply to the existing support case and ask for it to be escalated to the Azure Compute team. If the case hasn't received a meaningful update, ask the moderator here to help escalate it internally by providing the support request number privately. If this is a production workload, I'd also start discussing recovery options with support rather than waiting indefinitely for the original VM to recover. Depending on the cause, that could include repairing the VM, restoring from backup, or attaching the OS disk to a recovery VM.

Without the support case number or the VM's Resource Health details, nobody on the forum can determine why it's stuck. A Microsoft engineer will need to review the backend host logs.

    I'm not sure about the objective of this Q&A forum. It is the first recommended step in a support plan, but it only seems to slow down support when you really have an issue.
