Installing or updating Microsoft Edge on Windows 11
Hi, good day!
Do you know which recent Windows update was installed before this issue started? If not, please check Settings > Windows Update > Update history and share the latest update listed.
Could you upload a screenshot of the white screen? Kindly post it in your next response.
In the meantime, here are some of the things you can try.
Press Windows + Ctrl + Shift + B to restart the graphics driver. Your screen may briefly flicker.
Please try to restart your Windows Explorer
Press CTRL+SHIT+ESC to open Task Manager.
Find Windows Explorer under Processes.
Right-click it and select Restart.
I look forward to receiving your update and I'm willing to collaborate with you till we resolve the issue. Do keep me informed by clicking "Add comment" below.
Hi Darren Delaney,
Thank you for the update. I noticed that the Independent Advisor has already provided some troubleshooting suggestions. Have you had a chance to try those steps yet? If so, please let me know which ones you've completed and whether any of them had any effect on the issue.
If you haven't already, could you also share a screenshot of the white screen? It would be helpful to determine whether the white box is related to Microsoft Edge, the desktop or another Windows component.
As a few additional checks, please let me know whether the white box appears immediately after signing in to Windows or only after opening Edge. You can also try right-clicking an empty area of the desktop and selecting Refresh to see whether the white box changes or disappears.
Another useful troubleshooting step is to test the behavior in a new Windows user account. You can create one by going to Settings > Accounts > Other users > Add account. If you prefer not to use a Microsoft account, select "I don't have this person's sign-in information" and then "Add a user without a Microsoft account". Once the account has been created, sign out of your current profile and sign in to the new one. Before opening any applications, check whether the white box is present. This can help determine whether the issue is tied to your current user profile or is affecting Windows more broadly.
Please also let me know the most recent Windows update installed before the issue began, if you have not already shared that information.
I look forward to your update.
