The reason your shape looks distorted rather than like a clean rounded rectangle is that it is not actually a plain rectangle. The DMPS3-4K-350C is a custom stencil shape built from several connected line segments, including the title band across the top and the main body. Because the outline changes direction at multiple points (vertices), the Rounding setting applies a curved arc at every one of those points, not just at the four outer corners. With a large Rounding size of 0.4375 in., those extra corners get warped, which is why the top edge looks flared and pinched instead of smoothly curved.
To get a true rounded rectangle where all four corners round evenly, the best approach is to draw a fresh rectangle and apply rounding to it.
To do this, please follow these steps:
- On the Home tab, in the Tools group, select the arrow next to Rectangle, then choose the Rectangle tool.
- Drag on the page to draw the rectangle at the size you want.
- Switch back to the Pointer tool (also in the Tools group), then select the rectangle.
- Right-click the shape and select Format Shape.
- In the Format Shape pane, open the Line section, then set a small Rounding size (for example 0.1 to 0.2 in.) or pick a Rounding presets option.
