Speakers are not working

Open Device Manager

Expand Sound, video and game controllers

Do you see anything in that small list that says Intel Display Audio, AMD High Definition Audio, or NVIDIA High Definition Audio?

Please take a screenshot of the list then post it in your next response.

Kindly try to unplug the HDMI cable from the back of your computer tower, wait five seconds, and plug it back in firmly to force the system to re-scan the connection.

Here are some additional steps you can try.

Let's make sure the monitor speaker is not muted.

Locate the physical buttons on the bottom, back, or side of your monitor.

Press the Menu button to open the On-Screen Display (OSD).

Look for an Audio, Sound, or Settings tab.

Ensure the monitor's internal volume is turned up and that a Mute setting isn't checked.

After that, press the Windows Key + R to open Run, type mmsys.cpl, and hit Enter.

Right-click anywhere inside the empty space of the Playback tab list. Make sure both Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices are checked.

If your monitor now appears in the list, right-click it and select Enable. Then, click it once and select Set Default.

Thank you for updating me with that information. Right now, your computer thinks it is plugged into separate desktop speakers instead of your new screen. Let's change that.

Look at the very bottom-right corner of your computer screen (near the time and date).

Click once on the little Speaker icon. A volume bar will pop up.

Look for a small arrow icon (>) right next to the volume bar and click it.

Look for the word DELL or HDMI in that list.

Click on DELL or HDMI.

Try playing a video or some music now to see if you can hear it.

• When you click the speaker icon in your Windows taskbar, what is the exact name of the device currently selected as your output?
