I came across the term "Microsoft Entra ID P1 with Security Add-on" in a third-party product's documentation. The vendor has advised me to reach out to Microsoft for clarification, as I have been unable to find any official Microsoft documentation referencing this licensing term.

I would appreciate any insights on the following:

  • Is "Security Add-on" an official Microsoft license or add-on available for Microsoft Entra ID P1?
  • If so, what is the exact product or SKU name?
  • Is there any official Microsoft documentation describing this add-on and the capabilities it provides?

I have reviewed the Microsoft licensing documentation but could not find any product specifically named "Microsoft Entra ID P1 with Security Add-on." I'm trying to determine whether this is an official Microsoft licensing term or if it refers to another Microsoft security offering.

Any clarification or references to official documentation would be greatly appreciated.

AFAIK, this refers to Entra Suite standalone products that can be purchased in addition to P1:

Microsoft Entra ID Protection: Historically part of P2, this adds risk-based Conditional Access. It uses AI to calculate real-time user risk and sign-in risk, automatically forcing MFA or blocking logins if credentials leak or a connection looks suspicious.

Microsoft Entra ID Governance: Adds advanced access lifecycles, automated access reviews, and Just-In-Time (JIT) administrative role elevation via Privileged Identity Management (PIM).

Microsoft Entra Internet Access & Private Access: Microsoft’s Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) tools. They act as a security proxy layer, guarding your internet traffic and establishing secure Zero Trust connections to your on-premises apps without a traditional VPN.
