Microsoft 365 Copilot Email Sources Open in Outlook Web Instead of Outlook Desktop

Hi everyone,

We are currently using Microsoft 365 Copilot App (Desktop) and Copilot Chat in M365.com.
When we search for emails in Copilot and open the source email:

1. Select Open Preview
2. Select Open

the email is still opened in Outlook on the Web (outlook.office.com) instead of the Outlook Desktop (Classic Outlook) application.
Our environment:

• Microsoft 365 Copilot App (Desktop)
• Copilot Chat (M365.com)
• Outlook Classic (Desktop)
• Outlook is configured as the default mail application in Windows
• OWA (Outlook on the Web) is disabled in our tenant Has anyone found a solution or confirmed whether this is a current product limitation?
