I've been having this issue for ages when installing Prime and Netflix and i've tried resetting cache and the store as well as another drive but no luck. Can anyone help? I know others have had this issue...

Hi Theo Jones,

Since other Microsoft Store apps install normally and your default install location is already set to the C: drive, the issue appears to be specific to WinAppRuntime.Main.1.8 and the apps that depend on it, such as Netflix and Prime Video.

As a next step, try repairing the Windows component store and system files:

  1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
  2. Run: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
  3. After it completes, run: sfc /scannow
  4. Restart your PC and try installing WinAppRuntime.Main.1.8 again before testing Netflix or Prime Video.

If the installation still fails, it would be helpful to know more information as suggested by the Independent Advisor.

To be able to assist you better, please clarify the following:

Do you have a third-party antivirus installed? (e.g., Kaspersky, McAfee, Avast, etc.) If yes, which one?

Also. What is the version and "OS Build" of your Windows 11?

    • Press "Windows + R", type winver, and click OK.

If you prefer, share a screenshot. Use the shortcut "Windows + Shift + S" to use the screenshot tool.
