Startups: Companies that are in their initial stages of business and typically developing a business model and seeking financing.
The Azure nonprofit grant and sponsorship billing account are managed and surfaced through specific paths. To verify and view the $2,000 grant and its balance, use these checks in order:
- Confirm the grant in Nonprofit Hub
- Sign in to the Nonprofit Hub with the validated account used to claim/renew the grant (the email shown in the grant email).
- Select Nonprofit grants or Offers.
- Locate the $2,000 Azure Grant and confirm:
- Status is active.
- The grant shows the correct start and end dates.
- Check the correct billing account/profile in Azure Portal
- Sign in to the Azure portal with the administrator account associated with the grant.
- Go to Cost Management + Billing (or Billing in the left pane).
- Ensure the correct billing account and billing profile are selected:
- If using Microsoft Customer Agreement (modern sponsorship), the grant credits are tied to a specific billing account/profile.
- If the balance does not appear, follow the guidance to confirm the right scope:
- Use the steps in Billing accounts and scopes in the Azure portal to verify the active scope.
- View Azure Credits in the Azure portal (modern sponsorship)
- In the Azure portal, with the correct billing account/profile selected:
- Go to Billing > Payment methods.
- Open the Azure Credits tab.
- Verify that the current balance and usage for the $2,000 grant are displayed.
- If the Azure Credits tab does not show the grant:
- Re-check that the signed-in account is the same one shown in the grant email.
- Re-check that the correct billing account/profile is selected.
- In the Azure portal, with the correct billing account/profile selected:
- If on legacy sponsorship / MOSA
- If the tenant is still on a legacy sponsorship or MOSA billing account, the grant and balance are visible only in the Azure Sponsorships portal:
- Go to the Azure Sponsorships portal.
- Sign in with the account owner credentials, typically the
*.onmicrosoft.comaddress used during grant setup. - Verify:
- Remaining balance
- Usage
- Expiration details
- For MOSA-based grants, after renewal an email may require activation of the grant again via the sponsorship portal to complete renewal.
- If the tenant is still on a legacy sponsorship or MOSA billing account, the grant and balance are visible only in the Azure Sponsorships portal:
- Verify credits after renewal
- After renewal, if the balance still does not appear:
- Confirm the correct billing account/profile is selected.
- Use the guidance under track Microsoft Customer Agreement Azure credit balance and Billing accounts and scopes in the Azure portal to ensure the right scope is active.
- After renewal, if the balance still does not appear:
- If the grant is still not visible / mislinked
- If after the above steps the grant still does not appear in the expected tenant or billing account, open a support request so billing can verify which sponsorship account the grant is attached to and correct any misalignment:
- In the Azure portal, go to Help + Support and create a billing/support ticket.
- Provide the tenant ID and subscription ID so support can confirm the sponsorship mapping.
- If after the above steps the grant still does not appear in the expected tenant or billing account, open a support request so billing can verify which sponsorship account the grant is attached to and correct any misalignment:
These steps ensure that the grant is correctly renewed, the right billing scope is selected, and the balance is visible either in the Azure portal (modern MCA sponsorship) or the Azure Sponsorships portal (legacy/MOSA sponsorship).
