Hello, I’m having an issue with Microsoft Teams and need your assistance.

A long time ago, I signed in to my previous company account on Microsoft Teams using my personal device. I left that company several years ago.

Recently, when I opened Teams, I noticed a red warning triangle next to my name. After checking, I found that my old company account is still linked to my personal account.

I’m trying to remove that organization, but whenever I select “Remove organization,” it asks me to sign in using the company account credentials. Unfortunately, I no longer remember the account details, and I assume the account has already been deactivated.
Also know that the work account not showing on windows accounts.

Could you please advise on how I can remove this old organization from my personal Teams account? Thank you.

    Dear @Ahmed ELMohamady,

    I hope you’re having a good day.

Thank you for providing the detailed information.

I understand that you left your previous company several years ago, the work account no longer appears under Windows Accounts, but Microsoft Teams still displays the old organization and prompts you to sign in with credentials that you no longer have access to.

Based on my experience with similar situations, this can be a persistent issue because an old organizational or guest relationship may still be associated with your Microsoft identity long after you have left the company. In such cases, the issue is often not related to the local Teams installation itself.

If you have not already done so, I recommend first checking whether your version of Teams provides a Leave option. Microsoft has recently introduced a feature that allows users in certain scenarios to leave old work or school organizations directly from Teams.

You can refer to the detailed instructions in this article: insider.teams.com

If the Leave option is available and works successfully, sign out of Teams, wait for synchronization, and then sign back in. Microsoft notes that it may take several hours before the change is fully reflected.

However, if the Leave process requires you to sign in with the old company account that you can no longer access, and if you still have a way to contact your former employer, I would strongly recommend reaching out to their IT administrator. This is often the quickest resolution path because they may be able to remove your guest account or organizational association directly from their tenant.

If you can no longer contact the former organization, or if the Leave option is unavailable or ineffective, then to avoid wasting your time with troubleshooting steps that may not resolve the issue, I would honestly recommend contacting Microsoft Support directly through the Contact Us portal: Microsoft Support - Contact Us

They may be able to review the account association more closely and determine whether additional options are available in your specific situation.

I hope this helps point you in the right direction. If you try the Accounts and orgs option and can share the result, please feel free to let me know, and I will do my best to assist further.

    Kind regards.
