Unable to verify my student email for Azure for Students

Hello Microsoft Support,

I am a student at Laxmi Institute of Technology, Sarigam, India.

I am trying to register for Azure for Students, but I receive the following error:

"Your email domain is not currently registered with us."

My official student email is: ******@laxmi.edu.in

Could you please verify whether my institution or email domain is eligible for Azure for Students? If manual verification is possible, please let me know what documents I need to provide.

Thank you.

Hello Gaurav Tiwari,

Greetings! Thanks for raising this question in the Q&A forum.

This error means Microsoft's verification system checks the domain of the email you enter against a list of institutions it already recognizes as accredited academic domains, and it does not have laxmi.edu.in in that list yet. This is not something wrong with your account, it simply means your institution's domain has not been registered with Microsoft's academic verification service, so it needs to be added or you need to verify through an alternate method.

  1. Check the GitHub Student Developer Pack route first

This is usually the fastest path when a school domain is not recognized directly. Sign up at https://education.github.com/pack using your laxmi.edu.in email. GitHub uses a different verification process (including manual document review such as a student ID or enrollment letter) and once approved, you get a 25 digit Azure for Students verification code from the GitHub benefits page that bypasses the domain check entirely.

  1. Try the Azure for Students sign up page directly with your school email

Go to https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/free/students/, select Start free, and enter your laxmi.edu.in email again there. Occasionally the domain list used on the direct Azure for Students page differs slightly from the one shown in other entry points, so it is worth trying even if you already saw the error once.

  1. Ask your institution's IT or academic department to register the domain

Since the message specifically means the domain itself is not on Microsoft's recognized list, only your institution can request that laxmi.edu.in be added as a partnered academic domain. Have your IT department or administration reach out through the Microsoft for Education partner channel to get the domain whitelisted, since Microsoft does not accept domain registration requests directly from individual students.

  1. If you need it resolved before your institution can register the domain, contact Azure for Education Support directly for manual review

You can reach the dedicated academic verification team here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/education/products/azure, look for the Contact Support option. Alternatively, open a free Azure support request from https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/support/create-ticket/, choose issue type Subscription Management, and describe the exact error along with your school email domain. Include any enrollment proof you can provide (student ID, enrollment letter, transcript) since manual verification may require it.

Best Regards,

Jerald Felix.
