After recent Edge browser patch update, Edge Bookmarks have disappeared and we need to retrieve them. How to do so? Where to look for the previously synchronized bookmarks?

    Thanks for confirming.

Please do not reset Edge sync yet, because that may remove the only possible synced copy.

If you haven't tried anything yet:

    • First, check if the Favorites still appear on another synced device, such as another PC, phone, or tablet. If they are there, export them immediately from that device before syncing again.
    • On the affected PC, please also check the local Favorites backup file.
    • Close Microsoft Edge completely.

    Then open this folder:

    • %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default
    • Look for these files: Bookmarks & Bookmarks.bak
    • If you only have one Edge profile, it is usually in the Default folder. If not, also check folders named Profile 1, Profile 2, etc.
    • Copy both files to your Desktop first as a backup.
    • Then check if Bookmarks.bak is larger or older than the current Bookmarks file. If it is, that may contain the missing Favorites.

Let me know what you find. Thanks!

Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

Just to confirm, are you referring to normal Edge bookmarks/Favorites, or are you referring to Edge Collections?

I’m asking because Edge Favorites and Edge Collections are different. Also, Microsoft has retired Edge Collections, so the recovery steps are not the same.

If you mean Edge Collections, please check Bing Saves here: https://bing.com/saves Sign in using the same Microsoft account that was used in Microsoft Edge. Your saved Collections may appear there if they were synced.

If you mean normal Edge bookmarks, those are called Favorites. You can check them in Edge by pressing Ctrl + Shift + O.

Please also check Edge > Settings > Profiles and make sure you are signed in with the same Microsoft account you used before.
