I am using Windows 11 ver 23H2, I get frequent updates for ver 25H2 which obviously are not installed. I get very few updates for 23H2, should I be worried about this?

Windows 11 version 23H2 is out of support and so you won't receive updates for 23H2. Support ended Nov 2025.

Please upgrade to 25H2, as 23H2 has long since reached the end of servicing.
Before doing so, follow the instructions under "How to manually refresh Windows 11 eligibility assessment" in the following article:

If, after completing the above steps, 25H2 is not offered for your PC, we may use the ISO to do an in-place upgrade.
Following my recent question about changing from 23H2 to 25 H2 :-
I followed the instructions both here and on a Youtube video but 25H2 fails to install. I then took my PC to the shop where I bought it and they have encountered the same issue. They suggest the only answer is to do a complete Windows 11 reinstall. Do you agree or is there another way of getting 25H2 to install. My PC was bought in 2022 so not all that old

Please share your Farbar scan logs for analysis.
FRST64.exe to FRST64English.exe.Note: If Microsoft Edge or Chrome mislabels the Farbar Scanner executable as PUA/malware, choose to keep it by tapping … in the bottom bar, choosing Keep, and then choosing Keep anyway in the dialog that appears. See this screenshot. It's a safe tool used in most antimalware forums.

Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.
This is actually an expected behavior, and you shouldn't be worried about it.
Microsoft periodically released updates for the latest version of Windows, as of now it is 25H2. So even if you are staying in 23H2, 25H2 updates are still offered, and they could be repeatedly offered until installed. Since 23H2 is an old version, it will receive less updates compared to the other newer version. Per my knowledge, as of now, 23H2 has reached end of servicing, which means it will only receive security updates at most. User is expected to move to a newer version. I hope this clarifies.

Thanks for that information. It makes me ask if I should move to version 25H2 and if so how do I do that?

As the other users also suggests, please move to 25H2 as soon as you have the chance to. 23H2 is already out of servicing, so it will soon no longer receive any direct updates.

@Eric Cockerill what was shown on the hardware check to install 25H2. Is the hardware supported for Windows 11 25H2.
