I can only enter a single number in Excel cells the next number overwrites

Thanks Norah for the concern. I had to call a Microsoft Technician and the problem was that my MS 365 was corrupted. Re loading it solved the problem.

    Hello JimL

    From your description, Excel is not allowing you to enter more than one number in a cell, and each new number seems to replace the previous one. This behavior might be related to a program/add-in interfering with Excel or an Office installation issue.

    To resolve this, you can try the following suggestions:

    • Please first restart your computer and test Excel again.
    • If the issue continues, open Excel in Safe Mode by holding Ctrl while opening Excel, then choose Yes. If Excel works normally in Safe Mode, an add-in may be causing the issue. In that case, go to File > Options > Add-ins, manage COM Add-ins, and temporarily disable add-ins to test.
    • Also, if you have third-party antivirus software, you can also temporarily turn it off and test Excel again, then turn it back on after testing.
    • For issues that happen in all workbooks, try repairing Office from Windows Settings > Apps > Microsoft 365/Office > Modify > Quick Repair. If Quick Repair does not help, try Online Repair.
    • If the issue still continues after repair, you may consider uninstalling and reinstalling Office.
