I notice that when i play a powerpoint file on my mobile phone it does not play / present with animations and embedded audio does not play either.

However, if the play the same on my tablet (greater than 10 inches) i get all the object animations and the audio plays exactly as planned

Why this behaviour

Yes i am aware of the basic editing facilities on phones which i will not have access to on larger tablets

Is there some site i could get to read about powerpoint on android - its limitations etc

What exactly does microsoft 365 Copilot do - i thought this was an office suite but it asks me to download the individual programs like word, ppt ad excel if i wish to open and play files

On Android phones, PowerPoint presentations play in a simplified mode — animations and embedded audio are limited or disabled. On larger Android tablets (10"+), the app runs in a fuller mode, so you see object animations and hear audio as intended. Microsoft 365 Copilot is not the Office suite itself; it’s an AI assistant that works inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams, but you still need to install those apps individually.

  1. Phone vs Tablet Mode
    • On phones, PowerPoint is optimized for quick viewing and light editing. Complex features like motion paths, sound effects, and embedded audio playback are not supported.
    • On tablets larger than 10 inches, the app unlocks more desktop‑like features, including animations and audio playback.
  2. Limitations on Mobile
    • You can add and view basic animations (entrance, exit, emphasis).
    • Sound effects and motion paths are not available on mobile.
    • Embedded audio/video playback is restricted on phones, but supported on tablets.
    • Editing tools are simplified — fewer design and formatting options.
