Partner Center app created as EXE/MSI by mistake - need MSIX/PWA path while preserving reserved app name
Tracking marker: NMG-MSIX-PACKAGE-TYPE-07012026
Hello,
I need help identifying the correct Microsoft-supported path for a Microsoft Store app record in Partner Center.
App name: Not My Grandkid
Current product type shown: EXE or MSI app
Status: Not started
Package uploaded: none
Submission made: no
Apps and Games access: granted
The app name Not My Grandkid is already reserved for this product, but the product was accidentally created in the EXE/MSI lane. We need to publish through the MSIX/PWA path instead.
I do not want to delete the app/product record or risk losing the reserved app name.
I tried Windows Developer Support > Non-Technical Support - Dashboard > App Submissions & Management, but that route only launches Copilot. Copilot gave general answers but did not create a human support ticket or provide a clear safe button path.
Please advise:
- Can this existing EXE/MSI product be reset or converted to the MSIX/PWA path while preserving the reserved app name?
- If not, what is the safe Microsoft-supported process to preserve or transfer the reserved name so the correct MSIX/PWA product can be created?
- Should I leave the current EXE/MSI product draft untouched until Microsoft support performs this change?
- What exact support route should I use if this requires Partner Center backend support?
Thank you.
