I just upgraded to the AMD R7 5800X3D CPU from my old R5 5600G

But after the upgrade, everything else works fine except for the audio. my bluetooth earphones are connected but it isn't registering as a playback device. Same goes for wired earphones (I have also tested these earphones on different devices and works fine), these are also the same earphones I use when I was still using my 5600G

UEFI BIOS is at P3.40 which afaik supports the R7 5800X3D User's image

HD Audio Controller is also enabled in BIOS User's image

As for the Audio Driver, I downloaded and installed it from the Motherboard's driver page. Same as for it's AMD Chipset Driver (https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B550M%20Pro4/index.asp#Download) under the windows 10 64-bit OS---------------------

Check for Hidden Drivers:

Open Device Manager

Click on the View menu at the top and check Show hidden devices

Expand the Audio inputs and outputs section

Look for faded/translucent icons or duplicate listings (especially anything mentioning AMD Audio or your earphones' older profiles). Right-click them and select Uninstall device.

Do the exact same thing under these sections: Sound, video and game controllers + System devices
"Uninstall any ghost or duplicate drivers + Look for anything labeled AMD Audio Co-processor with a hidden/faded icon and uninstall it"

Also, from you BIOS

Check for this Option (AMD fTPM switch) --> Disable it & check your audio (Then, you can enable it later).

I have did as you indicated for both, sadly it did not start detecting any device as audio

For the hidden drivers (there were a lot), I uninstalled a lot of them especially on System Devices, but I did not find anything indicated as 'AMD Audio Co-processor' as a hidden driver or non-hidden driver

Ok you can re-enable (AMD fTPM Switch),

For Drivers:

Remove all Audio drivers;

Then, Download the latest Audio Driver Update from your official (Motherboard manufacturer website):

Install it --> Restart your Device.

Can we do "BIOS Reset"?

I need you turn off your device and completely disconnect any power cables and accessories connected to it. Then, I need you to open the Case and let's try out hardware reset to flush the BIOS:

Wait: Wait for about 30 seconds to allow residual power to drain from the motherboard.

We need (Metal object like PIN or screwdriver or any):

Look at bottom-right corner for something like that

Bridge /touch the two pins simultaneously both for about 5 seconds.

Remove the screwdriver or clip, plug your power cable back in, and turn on your PC.

Depending on your model, you may have something different like (CMOS Battery):

(Easy Way): remove it for seconds and put it back again.

Yes, Move to Phase #2, it's software level and much eaiser:

#2 Phase 2: Update BIOS to the Latest Version "there are newer BIOS updates available for your motherboard"

Last Version: **v3.**90 (2025) Important Note: If you are using (Windows BitLocker) to encrypt your files, make sure that you have a Backup of the decryption key or completed disable this feature during the bios update and save any license information for OS aside.

Restart back into normal Windows. First, install your ASRock Realtek Audio driver. Once audio functionality is verified, install the latest AMD Adrenalin GPU drivers

N.B: Do not clear the CMOS after a BIOS update

Additional Tip: If you can try out to re-install clean GPU driver (That's rare case. however, last option to consider).

Anyway: having the latest (Drivers Updates) is the most important task rightnow before going into more depth troubleshooting.

We may try out booting to (USB with OS installed on it just for testing, if it's driver or OS or bios or hardware computability problem).

I shared with you all possible cases.

Give it a try whenever you are ready and allocate time to troubleshoot.
