I need to backup my mail like I have been doing for many years. I need to create a new .pst file to do so, and the option doesn't seem to exist anymore in New Oultlook version 1.2026.617.600

Hi Francisco

Good day. Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

In the new Outlook for Windows, the .pst export option is still available, but the workflow has changed.

You can follow the steps below to export a new .pst file:

  • Go to Settings > Files > Export > Get started
  • User's image
  • From there, you can follow the export wizard to select the mailbox or specific folders that you want to export. Outlook will then create an Outlook Data File (.pst) that can be used as your backup.

Please note that some .pst features are still different between new Outlook and classic Outlook. For example, importing a mailbox or calendar from a .pst file is currently not supported in new Outlook, and you may need to use classic Outlook if you require the full traditional .pst workflow.

For your reference, you can review the following Microsoft articles:

I hope this helps clarify the change in the new Outlook experience. Should you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please feel free to share them in the comment below. I'm very happy to help.
