Before renewing my Microsoft 365 subscription I asked support if I would be able to continue using the program because my computer and Mac OS is using Monterey 12 which is not the latest Mac OS. The support said that I could, however when I tried to install my renewed subscription it says I need Mac OS 14. This is the second time that I purchased the product but was unable to to install it. My question is since it is already installed on my computer why can't I continue to use MS Office on the Monterey OS. Please advise before my payment is issued tomorrow July 1, 2026

Hi Amoye, Microsoft 365 needs macOS 14+ for new installs even if it still runs on your current Monterey setup. Contact Microsoft Billing to pause the renewal until you can update macOS, so you don't get charged for something you can't install. — Ritu Arora, MCT

The last version of Office that will work on MacOS Monterrey is 16.88, that is available on the table on this link to all the downloadable versions from the Microsoft servers.

However, on the link below, Microsoft indicate Microsoft 365, Office 2019 and 2021 will go into Read Only mode on older versions of Mac OS on July 13th this year.
