2026-06 update issues

The problem started last week when I attempted to run the 2026-06 Preview Update (KB 5095093) (26200.8737) update. After a few failed attempts, I contacted Microsoft Support. The tech ran a remote session, and he indicated that I needed to free up some disk space in order to run the update. This is puzzling because this PC is only 7 months old and has far more storage than my old PC. I ran the Disk Cleanup, cleaned out the “%temp%”, “temp,” and “prefetch” folders, ran a cleanup called CCleaner, and the Bitdefender Disk Optimizer.

Following that session, the computer is still having issues, almost every time I open Outlook or try to reconnect my One Drive, I am asked to reenter my credentials. At startup, I have gotten the message that my Bitdefender Secure Pass has cracked and that I need to reload it, and I have also gotten the message that “Free Space to Continue – Some features on chrome-extension//gcmahhgkpigpfpmdjnbiakmbdegfeh might not work until you clear data that other sites have stored on your device.

Again, none of this happened prior to the attempted update.

This morning I attempted to run the Windows Defender update without success and the Preview Update is still listed as an available update.

I am in over my head and am in need of your help from a real human being.

My two WIndows 11 PCs get to 100%, then fails ands rollback :-(
Tried to restorehealth with dism. Still same error.

Sick and tired of having to do a repair install EVERY time there is a new update.
How hard could this be MS? The updates are so touchy and fails too often.

Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

To be able to assist you better, please clarify the following:

    • How much free space do you have on the C: drive?
    • Are you getting an error code from this update? If yes, which one?
    • Do you have a third-party antivirus installed? (e.g., Kaspersky, McAfee, Avast, etc.) If yes, which one?

Also. What is the current "OS Build" of your Windows 11?

    • Press "Windows + R", type winver, and click OK.

If you prefer, share a screenshot. Use the shortcut "Windows + Shift + S" to use the screenshot tool.

Be sure to censor your email address if it appears. The Microsoft Q&A is public.

    Looking forward to your reply.

I installed the 2026-06 Preview Update (KB5095093) (26200.8737), and it downloaded and installed normally to 100% and showed "Pending restart" so when I clicked on Update and Restart, it went to the black Windows installation screen, reached 98%, and then displayed the message: "Something didn't go as planned. No need to worry - undoing changes. Please keep your computer on." For antivirus, I have Kaspersky installed.
