How to fix "Your device is missing important security and quality fixes" in Windows 10?

Hello, I'm writing regarding a "bug" if I can call it that. Whenever I click “Check for updates” in Windows Update, it doesn’t find any updates (the last one it found was 2026-06 KB5094127), but it keeps telling me that “Your device is missing important security and quality fixes.” My laptop is signed up for extended updates; I’m attaching a screenshot of what it looks like. Thanks for any help!

Hi,

The reason for this message is that you are running an older version of Windows 10, which needs to be updated. Please do the steps below.

In case if it fails, please let me know. We'll have to check the logs and understand why the update is failing.

Please try installing the latest feature update manually and let us know.

The fastest way to get the upgrade is through the Media creation tool or ISO file. Please download the Media Creation Tool and select ""Upgrade this PC now"".

Hi, thanks for the quick reply! My laptop is running on the latest version, 22H2 (OS Build: 19045.7417), but it keeps showing the same message. When I check for updates, it says 'You're up to date' but the message 'Your device is missing important security and quality fixes' won't disappear. After closing and opening Settings, it says 'You are not up to date' again. I do the same thing over and over, it says 'You are up to date' again, but the message underneath stays there. It's just the same old story on repeat.

Thanks, this is pretty interesting.

If you do a repair install once, the message should go away.

Try doing a repair install. A repair Install keeps everything, including Files and applications, and reinstalls Windows.
