Urdu Phonetic Keyboard for Windows 11

Hello,

I am a Windows 11 user and have installed the Urdu language package. However, the package does not include the Urdu Phonetic Keyboard, which is essential for typing Urdu efficiently and accurately.

This keyboard layout is widely used, and its absence makes Urdu typing significantly more difficult for users. Could you please clarify why the phonetic keyboard option is not currently available in Windows 11, and whether Microsoft plans to add it in an upcoming update?

I faced the same situation and this installer version worked for me:

Give it a try. I don't know how reliable it is but If you use and find any issues, please post your feedback so that others can avoid using it IA.

    At the moment, Windows documents the standard Urdu keyboard layout, but it doesn't look like there is an official Microsoft source confirming a built-in Urdu Phonetic keyboard layout or a plan to add one in a future Windows update.

    Microsoft Q&A is just a community support forum, so we cannot confirm Microsoft’s internal design reason or future roadmap here. If Microsoft decides to add this officially, it would normally be announced through official Windows update or Microsoft channels.

    The best way to notify the Windows product team is to submit this through Feedback Hub (Win+F). Feedback Hub includes your Windows version and device context, and other users can upvote the same request, which makes it easier for Microsoft to track demand for the feature. In the meantime, you might want to explore a trusted third-party Urdu phonetic keyboard option.

    Microsoft probably won't do it. We'll have to rely on third-party developers or individuals to solve it for us.

    Why? Because Microsoft focus more on pushing Copilot and other AI products than solving long standing problems that many users face. Especially those of us using company-managed laptops with limited permissions to install third-party software.

    IMHO, the other FRUIT company has done a much better job.
