Hi, Catalina

A frozen OneDrive account usually happens when the account is over its Microsoft storage limit or has been inactive, and paying for storage does not automatically restore files that were already deleted. Deleted OneDrive files may be recoverable from the Recycle Bin or by using Restore your OneDrive if the account has Microsoft 365, but permanently deleted files may not be recoverable.

Here are some suggestions you can try:

First, sign in directly at OneDrive online using the exact Microsoft account that received the frozen/deletion email. Check Manage storage and make sure the new subscription storage is actually showing on that same account. If the storage still does not appear, it is recommended that you contact Microsoft support, because the subscription may be attached to a different Microsoft account.

Next, open OneDrive online, go to Recycle bin, and restore anything listed there. If you have Microsoft 365, also try Settings > Options > Restore your OneDrive, then choose a custom restore point before 6/26/2026 12:00 AM. This can undo file activity from the last 30 days.

If the files are not in the Recycle Bin and OneDrive Restore does not bring them back, only Microsoft Support can check whether any server-side recovery is still possible. When contacting them, include the affected Microsoft account, proof of subscription/payment, the warning email, and the exact loss time: 6/26/2026 12:00:00 AM. Ask them to escalate it as a OneDrive data recovery request, not just a subscription issue.
