Protection against phishing, malware, and other threats targeting email and collaboration tools in Microsoft 365
To address SmartScreen and Safe Links incorrectly flagging a legitimate site, use the official false-positive reporting channels and reputation guidance.
- On the SmartScreen block page in Microsoft Edge for the affected URL, under More information, select Report that this site doesn't contain (malware/phishing) threats. This sends the URL and site details to the SmartScreen Reputation Group for review.
- Wait for the confirmation email from the SmartScreen Reputation Group. If the issue is urgent or requires follow-up, reply to that email to provide additional context (for example, that the page is an editorial humanitarian article and that external scanners report it as clean).
- For Safe Links (Microsoft Defender for Office 365) false positives on URLs in email, an admin should:
- Go to the Defender portal at
https://security.microsoft.com. - Navigate to Actions & submissions > Submissions (or go directly to
https://security.microsoft.com/reportsubmission). - On the Submissions page, select the URLs tab and submit the blocked URL as a false positive (good URL). After Microsoft validates it as good, subsequent messages containing that URL and its variations (for example,
.../abc,.../abc?id=1,.../abc/def/...) will not be blocked based on URL reputation.
- Go to the Defender portal at
- To reduce the chance of future SmartScreen blocks and improve domain reputation:
- Ensure HTTPS is enabled with a valid certificate for the entire site.
- Block iframes from loading unknown third-party content.
- Use Content Security Policy (CSP) and other secure response headers.
- Regularly scan for webshells, trojans, and suspicious uploaded files.
- Maintain stable hosting and DNS to support long-term domain reputation.
These steps will submit emprendedor.com and the specific article URL for review and help clear the reputation if Microsoft confirms they are safe.
