Regarding your concern, yes, your files and data in OneDrive remain fully secure. As far as I know, all files stored in OneDrive are protected by Microsoft’s server-side encryption and security measures. Using an older version of the desktop app does not affect the security of your cloud files.
However, please note that an older OneDrive app version will not receive future security updates or bug fixes. This means the app itself carries some additional risk over time compared to running the latest supported version on a newer macOS.
I recommend backing up your local OneDrive folder first as a precaution before making any changes. For the best long-term experience, I suggest using OneDrive through web browser, which is fully supported and secure. You can also access your files from other devices such as your phone or a newer computer.
