Primary Email Alias Removed (Accidently)

Hello,

I need assistance restoring my original Microsoft account alias.

I recently created a new Outlook alias and changed it to my primary alias. During the same session, my account activity history recorded the following events:

• Primary alias changed
• Alias added
• Alias removed (This was the mistake where my original alias since the account was first ever created was removed)

Since then:

• My Microsoft account is still fully accessible using the newly created alias.
• All of my mailbox contents, folders, contacts, OneDrive data, subscriptions, and account history remain intact.
• However, the original alias that is primary to my mailbox can no longer be used to sign in.
• Email sent to the old original primary address now returns the error: 550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable.
• The alias no longer appears under Sign-in Preferences.
• At one point after the change, my old primary address was still listed under Other email addresses in my Microsoft account with a Remove option, despite no longer functioning.

This issue occurred immediately after changing my primary alias and does not appear to be an intentional account deletion.

Is it possible that my old primary address can be restored or reattached to my existing Microsoft account?

The mailbox itself is clearly still intact, as all of my emails, folders, contacts, OneDrive data, and account history remain available under my new primary alias. This leads me to believe the issue is related to the alias configuration rather than the mailbox being deleted as i am logged in via the newly created alias right now typing this.

I can also provide screenshots of:

• The account activity showing the alias changes.
• The account information page showing my old primary address listed under Other email addresses after the issue occurred.
• The delivery failure (550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable) when sending email to my old primary address.

I would greatly appreciate your assistance in restoring my original Hotmail alias.
