I recently changed my microsoft password on my work PC (as required after a certain time frame). I can logon to my Microsoft account on my work PC, online and on my Iphone. I am however no longer able to login on my mac, in any microsoft office program. It seems to sync with the "cloud" and then keeps giving me the following error code: AADSTS90023: Invalid STS request. I have run the resetonedriveapp command, reinstalled all the microsoft office programs, cleared tokens in the Group Containers and Containers folders.

How can I logon from my Mac? Please help.

    Hi @Gareth Davies

Based on the detailed information you provided, I understand that after changing your Microsoft password on your work PC, you have been locked out of all Microsoft Office applications specifically on your Mac. Even though your new credentials work perfectly on your PC, online, and on your iPhone, your Mac keeps triggering the loop error: AADSTS90023: Invalid STS request. I can see you have already done some extensive troubleshooting by running the OneDrive reset command, reinstalling Office, and manually clearing the authentication tokens from your Mac's Containers and Group Containers folders, but the cloud sync loop persists.

The error code AADSTS90023 typically points to an issue where the authentication request sent by the client (your Mac) is deemed invalid, or it's failing to negotiate the federated login process properly after a credential update.

Since you have already thoroughly cleared the local token cache on your macOS user profile, the issue is highly likely originating from tenant-side security rules that treat macOS requests differently than iOS or Windows requests.

In this case, you will need to contact your organization's IT Administrator to investigate the backend login logs. You may need to contact your IT admin, as this issue can occur due to various reasons. Please ask them to check the following: Your IT admin can look up your specific user account in the Entra ID portal and filter the sign-in logs for the failures happening on your Mac.

Have them check if there are any specific Conditional Access (CA) policies applied to your account that dictate device compliance or platform restrictions.

Please let me know what they find or if they need any specific correlation IDs from your error screen!
