Hello Lisa,
Thank you for posting question on Microsoft Windows Forum!
Based on the issue description. Well! The plausible explanation to this symptom is that when the Enterprise Mode Site List drops or fails to apply, Deltek PIM will immediately break because it relies on legacy IE rendering for specific active controls and authentication handoffs. If the Force Update button is missing or grayed out, it typically indicates that Edge is no longer receiving the Group Policy/Intune directive to look for a site list in the first place, or the user is signed into a different Edge Profile.
The following are some suggestions you can try.
- Making sure you are checking the dedicated compatibility page rather than the standard Edge settings menu by opening Microsoft Edge. Then navigate to edge://compat/enterprise. You should see the Location of the XML file and the current Version. If this page is completely blank or missing the file path, Edge does not know the site list exists. On the other hand, try to force a refresh without the button. By design, Edge waits exactly 65 seconds after launching before it attempts to download an updated Enterprise Mode Site List. Close all instances of Edge. Open Edge and navigate to edge://compat/enterprise. Wait at least 65 seconds without closing or refreshing the browser. The list will often populate automatically after this built-in delay.
- Try to increment the XML version. Since Edge caches the site list locally and will only pull a new one if the version number inside the XML file is strictly higher than the cached version. You can open the XML file provided by Deltek. Near the top, locate the version attribute like <site-list version="12">. Increment that number (e.g., to "13"), save the file, and restart Edge.
- To verify exactly what policies and settings are hitting the device, Microsoft Edge has built-in diagnostic page you should check on the affected machine by navigating to edge://policy and search for InternetExplorer. You need to confirm two specific policies are actively applied and their Status is OK. InternetExplorerIntegrationLevel: Must be set to 1 (Enabled) and InternetExplorerIntegrationSiteList: Must show the correct path (URL, UNC path, or local path) to the Deltek PIM XML file. If this path is missing, the "Force Update" button will not appear.
