How to add Greek Polytonic in the keybords of Greek Language in Win 11

Hello,

I have installed the Greek language in my win 11 but it doesn`t show the option to add the Greek Polytonic keyboard, which I really need for academic purposes. How can I add that keyboard?OBS: I've reinstalled the Greek language, but it didn't help.

I understand how inconvenient this must be, especially since you need the Greek Polytonic keyboard for academic work.

In Windows 11, installing the Greek language and adding a keyboard layout are handled separately, so reinstalling the Greek language may not automatically add the Polytonic layout. Please try checking the keyboard options directly:

Open Settings.
Go to Time & language > Language & region.
Under Preferred languages, find Greek.
Select the three dots (...) next to it, then choose Language options.
Under Keyboards, select Add a keyboard.
Look for Greek Polytonic or Greek (Polytonic) and add it.
After adding it, press Windows key + Spacebar to switch between your installed keyboard layouts.

If you still do not see the Greek Polytonic option there, could you please confirm a few details?

Are you using Greek (Greece) or Greek (Cyprus) in the language list?
What keyboard options do you currently see under Add a keyboard?
Is your Windows 11 fully updated under Settings > Windows Update?

In the meantime, you can also try removing the Greek language once more, restarting the PC, then adding Greek (Greece) again and checking Language options > Add a keyboard before installing any other Greek variant.

thanks for the answer,

I'm using just Greek (not the Cyprus) in the language list,

I see the keyboards: Greek, Greek 319, Greek 220 and Greek Archaic (all of them with the latin version too)

The win is fully updated

I restarted the PC and redo all of the steps but didn't help ;(

Thank you for checking and sharing the details.

Since your Windows 11 is fully updated and the “Greek Polytonic” option still does not appear under Add a keyboard and you can see Greek Archaic in the list, could you please try adding that keyboard layout and testing whether it gives you the polytonic characters/diacritics you need? After adding it, press Windows key + Spacebar and select Greek Archaic, then test it in Notepad or Word.

You can also try resetting the keyboard/input list through Windows settings:

Go to Settings > Time & language > Language & region.

Open Greek > Language options.

Remove the Greek keyboard layouts that you do not need, if Windows allows it.

Restart the PC.

Go back to Greek > Language options > Add a keyboard.

Add Greek Archaic and test whether it supports the accents/breathing marks you need.

I know this is not ideal, especially when you specifically need the Polytonic layout for academic work, but testing Greek Archaic first should help confirm whether Windows is listing the needed layout under a different name on your device. Thank you so much for your cooperation.
