Visio constantly misprinting pdfs

I have now had multiple Visio files experience this. On the day that I create the file, I will make my layout and print to pdf with no problem. However, when I reopen it on another day and make very slight edits it will suddenly start moving all the objects around when I go to print. I have confirmed that the units, orientation, page size, and scale are all consistent between the page and print setup. Additionally, if I try to export to pdf instead of print to pdf the layout still gets drastically changed (although in a different way from print to pdf). This is making Visio unusable for me.

    Hi Jim ,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, when you make minor changes to your Visio file, the objects become misaligned when printing.

Please try the following steps and check whether the issue is resolved:

    1. Disable the Auto Size feature in Visio
    • Go to Design > Page Setup.
    • Clear the Auto Size option.
    1. Group all content in the Visio drawing

This helps keep the objects together as a single unit and may prevent them from shifting positions during printing.

    • Press Ctrl + A to select all content.
    • Press Ctrl + G to group all objects together.

If you need to edit individual objects later, you can press Ctrl + Shift + U to ungroup them.

    1. Perform an Online Repair for Visio

Step 1: Press Windows + I to open Windows Settings.

Step 2: Select Apps > Installed apps, then locate Visio.

Step 3: Click the ... button next to Visio > Modify > Online Repair.

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can work together to resolve this.

Thank you for your patience and your understanding. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to share them in the comments on this post so I can continue to support you.

I look forward to continuing the conversation.
