Copilot Tasks (PREVIEW) incorrectly shows “You’ve reached your Tasks limit” on Microsoft 365 Consumer Premium

Hi everyone,

I’m using Microsoft 365 Consumer Premium, which includes Copilot Premium with Extensive Use and no monthly AI usage limits according to Microsoft’s documentation.

However, my Copilot Tasks (PREVIEW) feature has stopped running entirely. In the task pane, I now see this banner:

“You’ve reached your Tasks (PREVIEW) limit. You can still continue chatting.”

There isn't even a "will reset when..." on the warning. Just that I have reached my limit.

This should not be possible on my subscription tier, and it appears that the backend has incorrectly applied a usage cap that only applies to Copilot Basic or older preview tiers.

Symptoms:

All tasks have stopped running (scheduled and manual).

The task pane always shows the “limit reached” banner.

Tasks that previously ran fine now fail immediately or do nothing.

This began after running a long, multi‑step automated task that uses schemas and document generation.

What I’ve already tried:

Signing out/in

Restarting the device

Editing or duplicating tasks

Creating new tasks

Checking subscription status (it shows Copilot Premium with Extensive Use)

None of these resolve the issue.

What I believe is happening:

From chatting with copilot, this appears to be the known issue where the Tasks (PREVIEW) backend incorrectly flags Premium users as having exceeded a preview quota, placing the task engine into a blocked state until the next monthly reset. However, this is what copilot told me, I do not know if that is reliable truth or not.

What I need:

Can someone from Microsoft confirm whether this is a backend flag that needs to be cleared manually? And is there a workaround to restore task functionality before the next monthly cycle? Or will it even reset at the end of the month!?

Thanks in advance.
