unable to find the app

Hi All,

I have enabled an application in Microsoft Teams and made it available to a few users.

In the Teams Admin Center, I went to Teams apps > Manage apps, searched for the application, and made it available to the required users.

Users are able to find and install the app by searching for it in the Teams App Store on the desktop client. However, when the same users search for the app in the Teams mobile client (iOS/Android), the app does not appear in the search results.

The app is assigned to the affected users and works correctly on the desktop client.

Has anyone experienced this issue? Are there any additional settings, policies, or considerations that affect app visibility in the Teams mobile client?

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Hi Maxwell,

This behavior is usually related to differences in how Teams mobile handles app discovery, rather than an issue with app assignment itself. In many cases, it can be resolved by adjusting the app configuration (manifest) or confirming policy alignment.

Due to limited information, you can verify the following places to troubleshoot this issue:

  1. App manifest configuration (for custom apps)

If this is a custom application (especially one that includes a bot), visibility on mobile clients depends on specific elements in the app manifest. In particular, the mobile client requires the commands section to be present under the commandLists configuration. If this section is missing, the app may work on desktop but not appear on mobile at all.

  1. Policy application and propagation

Even when the app is enabled in Teams apps > Manage apps, visibility is also controlled by:

  • App permission policies
  • App setup policies

These policies must be correctly assigned to the affected users, and changes may take some time to fully propagate across clients, including mobile.

  1. Mobile-specific behavior and limitations

Apps behave differently on mobile compared to desktop. For example, certain app types (such as Office-integrated apps) are not searchable on mobile by design

  1. Additional mobile-specific scenarios
  • If the issue is about the app being pinned/not showing in the mobile app bar, check the mobile-specific flag enableAdminPreInstalledAppsPolicyOnMobile.

If users are in different locations or the app publisher set country filters.

I hope this provides enough clarity and helps you stay inform with your current situation.

However, I’d like to note that these are common scenarios and may not fully align with your specific issue due to the limited information available at this stage. If the problem persists after trying these recommendations, please provide more information about what application you're trying to manage and which policies you configured on it so we can continue the investigation with a more targeted and accurate approach.

Thank you for your patience and your understanding. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out.

I'm looking forward to your reply.
