SharePoint Image web part file selector UI doesn't match documentation

More specifically, refer to MC1230452 - SharePoint Pages: Retirement of Web Search (Bing) image pivot | Microsoft 365 Message Center, the Web Search option is documented to be retired in March-April 2026 due to the Bing Search API. Therefore, if the help page using the image with Web Search available, it's likely outdated since February 2026.

Microsoft has not published a precise public date specifically for the Image web part file selector UI change. The closest related public information is that Microsoft’s broader new SharePoint experience public preview concluded on May 4, 2026, and then moved into standard rollout. In the document New SharePoint experience - SharePoint in Microsoft 365 | Microsoft Learn, it only states that update includes visual/UI changes across SharePoint surfaces and no specific details on how the Image Web part UI change.

Combining the facts that the Web Search retirement is in April and new SharePoint experience rollout started in early May, I believe that's highly the time that the Image Web part UI changes. However, along with this new experience, there's also no option allowing you to switch back to the UI shown in the article.
