Decommissioning Azure AD B2C custom tenant safely

What are the steps I can or must follow to successfully decommission Azure AD B2C custom tenants?

Because some of them are not in use and were deployed by my developers, how can I now, as a Global Administrator, safely check or delete them?

The problem is that I have just inherited these environments and am not sure where to start or how to take over each of those B2C tenants, as my account wasn't invited to or added to any of them.

As a Global Administrator, the first step is to determine whether you have access to the B2C tenants. If your account is not listed in a tenant, check whether there are any existing administrators or documented ownership details from the team that created it.

Before deleting a tenant, review the applications, app registrations, users, groups, user flows, custom policies, and any integrations that may still be using it. Checking recent sign-in and audit activity can also help confirm whether the tenant is still active.

Could you clarify:

Are these standalone Azure AD B2C tenants, or have they been transitioned to Microsoft Entra External ID?

Do you have access to the Azure subscription that was used to create them?

Are the tenants visible under Switch directory in the Azure portal, or do you currently have no access to them?

This information will help determine the safest way to gain access and assess whether the tenants can be decommissioned.
