Boot up display on my ASUS Vivobook 17 shows what I think is the inner workings of the computer. I can get past it but how do I stop it

That is BIOS your PC is booting into, that usually indicates a problem with BIOS, the drive Windows is installed onto or the Windows boot process.

Start your PC, then when it boots into BIOS, press F9 to load BIOS Defaults, then press F10 to save the changes and restart your PC, does your PC then boot into Windows normally?

    Many thanks for your speedy response to my question, this is much appreciated, as always.

    My knowledge has grown since you first helped me so many years ago. I am now in my 80s but still learning!

    As this doesn't happen every time that I turn on I haven't been able to try it yet. Rest assured that I will follow your instructions next time it does occur. I will of course let you know the outcome. 👍🏻

    It was a few days before this reappeared, but apart from a mild panic when it wanted my Bitlocker key all seems well. Many thanks for your help.
