Lost Keyboard on Microsoft Surface Pro 3

After non-use but still charged, I turned on the MS Surface Pro 3 to find no "Surface Type Cover Filter Device" driver in the device manager and no keyboard recognition. I tried 1) resetting but no improvement; just lost all my programs. 2) reinstalling the most recent msi update (Win10_17134_1902002_0) but to no avail. 3) Clearing all device manager drivers under keyboard in device manager, 4) cleaning contacts and new Surface Pro 3 keyboards but still nothing. Relegated now to using a bluetooth keyboard. Would like to use the very convenient (and quite expensive I might add) cover-lid keyboard that comes with the Surface. Any suggestions?

If the typecover does not work after a reimage from the downloadable recovery image, then it is likely the issue is not repairable. Surface Pro 3 was launched 11 years ago, so it's probably time to move on to a new device. Sorry, but there is no longer any support for SP3.
